Sure Foot Equine Stability Programs
Sure Foot is a unique and innovative approach that allows the horse to experience his own habitual patterns of movement. It provides the horse with an opportunity to explore and learn new ways of standing on his feet and utilizing the ground for great ease, comfort and confidence.
There are different densities of Sure Foot pads that can be used alone or in combination of one another to achieve different effects. These pads are offered to the horse to stand on which allows the horse to explore how he weights his feet and carries himself, bringing new information to the balancing parts of the nervous system. It is a bit like "re-centering one's self". We as humans would experience the same thing if we stood on a wobble board, or some other unsteady footing; we would be required to carry ourselves differently in order to maintain our balance. Much is the same with our horses, except ours horses continue to maintain this new way of carrying and balancing themselves even when they step off the pads. The pads also have a very obvious calming effect on the horses; shifting them from their habitual flight or fight response to the grazing or parasympathetic response. This is very clearly seen in the videos to the right, when the horses choose to remain on the pads and begin swaying while appearing as if they may fall asleep. |

Sure Foot Session
$100
Each session includes taking down the history of the horse and rider pair, as well as an introduction (or re-introduction) to the pads. First sessions typically last 60-90 mins and follow up session after that are 45-60 mins*
*Please have your horses brushed and in the barn with all tack (saddle, bridle, saddle pads, half pads, etc) ready to make the best use of our time together.
Please note that there is no force involved in these sessions. If the horse does not wish to stand on the pad, then they are not "held in place". It is something that the horse must voluntary want to do in order to receive the benefits of it. If the horse is unwilling to cooperate then there will be no cost associated with the session; however, that is not a situation that has occurred yet.
